‘Taranaki Electricity Trust have granted two million dollars to Marinoto. The two million was originally a loan but now that over extension was years ago. The loan has been forgiven by TET effective immediately, which was decided at their monthly meeting.
Chairman Mike Davey said, he was absolutely elated as Marinoto is important to our town. It allows families close proximity to visiting their loved ones, as opposed to travelling to New Plymouth or Stratford.
TET are supporting other projects recently with a large grant to Stratford Aged Care driven by Nga Rauru Whanau Ora and the Piki Pelango “Wisdom Village” initiative.
The grant was most welcome at Marinoto where a number of things are currently being updated, such as furnishings and equipment.
This is TET’s contribution… for supporting the people of the North Taranaki community. They also allow Marinoto to be in a more sustainable position. Marinoto Home and Hospital Clinical Manager Bettina Bannink and Denise Loveridge from the Inglewood Welfare Society who owns and operates Marinoto were absolutely delighted.
The two million dollar forgiveness allows more support for their community, and strengthens the position of the facility in being able to care for elderly and palliative residents. Bettina says they are seeing increasing numbers of people choosing Marinoto for its small home model and community-centred approach. “This will make such a huge difference.” ‘
